Been meaning to stick these pics up for ages, i know it isnt anything special but it is a mint ford!! she told me last night that he's scrapping it under this new government thing, you scrap your old car and they will give you £2k towards a new one. such a minter, shame it aint a 3 door!!!

Nice clean engine bay!

Even the interior is mint! (Nice phone! lol!)

this sort of thing will happen all the time now. One point I heard was that this scrappage system will not be allowed with other offers. For example a dealer will knock the £2000 of the sticker price and that is all, but someone with cash might be able to strike a better deal anyway without having a trade in.
The cheap classics will all be scrapped soon.

I think this new government thing is crap and i know someone has to buy the new car's but i never would, bought a 6 month old focus last year for about 5 grand cheaper than new and we still have our old car for track days too,
£2000 off a new car is nothing.

thats 2k from a main dealer that the government will put towards it for you.

but if you shoped around you can often get a better saving than 2k anyway, so all he will do is be playing into there hands and scrapping what they class as a car thats not econimcal to be on the roads.

That's fucking insane!

This is exactly what I knew would happen with this stupid scheme. People with the best old cars chopping them in for a new shitter simply because they get a nice easy trade in value

That would probably fetch a grand privately, but a dealer would usually give scrap money for a trade in. In the eyes of the average buyer the scheme is great, but it is so wasteful..... both in terms of pointlessly churning out new cars which is bad enviromenrtally, and beacause virtual museum pieces like that will be cubed!

Slightly off topic but under the scrapage scheme, when the goverment give you your two grand and say a car like that gets taken to a scrap metal place, is there anything to stop them keeping it and putting it back on the road?

Or when you hand if over do you declare is scrapped to the dvi or just sign it over to the dealership as if you where trading it in?

its a waste but its the only way you will get 2k for it.but when you consider how much money you will lose as soon as you drive whatever car you buy out of the showroom you will probably have lost another 2k,so you are not really saving anything.

Its good for trading in jap scrap and getting it off the road but only downside is you would have to own one for 12 months first

I'm pretty sure the car MUST be crushed. One it's traded in under this scrappage scheme I think the car cannot be sold or driven under any circumstances and faces a mandatory crushing
