Default Converting mk6 Escort Estate to rear discs

Hi Dudes,

A belated Happy Easter to you all.

Even tho the estate has bigger drums than the other models, I am looking to change the rear to discs.

I am sure the estates have a different rear beam with inclined shocks, so what do I need to convert?

Stub axles outwards with a new pair of brake hoses and handrake cables?

Would appreciate your thoughts

Thanks

Should be straightforward enough then. I did this conversion on my mk6 hatch and just swopped the full beam with one from an RS. I needed a new master cylinder though.

As mine is an estate, I can't use the whole beam tho, bloody estates have spring and shock separate.

I need an RS2000 master cyl too then?

No, the RS master cylinders were all either 2 or 4 wheel ABS. I had to source one from a non-ABS mk6 130 cabriolet.

The thing to do is fit them and get a brake test, and go from there. I had also fitted RS front calipers too................

Right, just got around to sourcing a rear beam, and have now stripped it to get the bits I need.
Assuming the stub axles bolt onto my beam, then I reckon I have the hydraulics side sorted out.

My concern is the handbrake! I have got no bracketry on the floor of the car to hold the looped handbrake cable. Does anyone have experience of doing this swap?!

I have a feeling it's going to be a pain!

Thanks
