Default Focus Zetec 1.8

As some of you may know since my accident i ended up buying the Focus 1.8 as a everyday runner. Now after owning a Focus RS (6 Months Only ) i must say im pretty impressed with the Zetec 1.8. Today i finally thought i'd give it some stick and it really surprised me at how great the engine is and how quick it pulled for a normal car.

I'm thinking i should have gone for the 2.0 Zetec lol

If you're planning on doing any sort of tuning or trying to get a bit more power out of it then, yeah, you will regret not getting a 2.0 litre.

But if you're just using it to smoke around in then they are reasonably pokey for what they are (Focus bodyshell isn't exactly a featherweight). If you find yourself getting frustrated at the massive torque dip between 2.5k and around 3.5k then be assured it's Ford's fault. They put that in there deliberately so that you get 'decent' economy at motorway cruising speeds.

quite nippy cars aren't they- i have a mk1 2litre estate and i was quite suprised how well it goes, could handle plenty more though the focus's handling is brilliant- i think my focus handles as good as my rst and its about 4 foot off the ground on standard suspension lol
few simple bolt on mods sees the power go up pretty good as well

Cheers for the info bud, I think i may buy a 2 litre during the summer. Think i may just be looking for one in good nick to be honest. Maybe have another engine built for it. However, i really am enjoy the Zetec for what it is.

I've taken a shine to your MK1, what mods have you done to yours?
