have changed a engine in a mates car and we can't get it to start.

It defo has fuel and spark but just turns over. Have tried turning it over without plugs in for a while, in case tappets are empty (not sure if it applies on these but tried anyway). The plugs have loads of oil on after trying to start it, could this point towards a issue with the new engine? Thinking its lack of compression due to rings maybe? Mate got the engine, but doesn't really know anything about it.

We have been trying to start it with only the manifold and cat/down pipe on, but thats not gonna stop it starting is it?

 

have you plugged the crank sensor in?

 

i didnt wire it up myself, my mate did. where is it though and i will check!

 

just been told its 100% on and has been checked and rechecked!

 

if you have fuel and spark.then spray some easy start into it.

 

done that to no avail.

 

strange? easy start and a spark should cause a reaction? pop bang . engine fire lol.
crank the engine,with foot to the floor ,wot. and spray in easy start.if nothing happens, then i would say you have no spark in the cylinder.

 

its defo strange! I have even taken plugs out and rested them above the holes and cranked it, they ignite the fuel then no hassle. but put them in and try and nothing.

hasn't had the cambelt done thou, timing hasnt been messed with at all.

 

Has the old owner messed with it?

 

Can't do any harm putting a bar and pin on it..
