Hello m8, this is a piss easy job. First get a hard drive from www.ebuyer.com. Then backup all your saved game data onto a usb flash drive or external drive. Then disconnect all cables and swith the ps3 off at the back. Open the flap which covers the hard drive, take a philips screwdriver to the hard drive caddy, push it to the right and it pops out. Take the drive out the caddy, put the new one in, screw it back into place, put the flap on, put all cables in and power on, follow on screen instructions to install the playstation OS, do a system update, copy saved game data back onto hard drive.
All you have to do is get a USB pen drive, or external drive, go to the game data, press triangle for options and then copy and choose the usb drive to copy it to. Once you power it back on it will detect there's a new unformatted hard drive and will do it for you, it took about 10 - 15 mins to format my 320 gig drive. Once done just copy your saved game data back. Job Done
It's a 2.5 SATA laptop / notebook drive but SATA II drives work. It has to be a 5400rpm drive tho, the 7200rpm's run too hot and there's no cooling option AFAIK at the moment.
