Fitting a Bailey Oil Breather {Help!}
I have just purchased a Bailey Breather/Seperator, with fitting kit... just no fitting instructions.
Could someone point me in the right direction on how to fit it to my S2, maybe including a pic or two.
Thanks in advance

if its the one tht bolts ur to head, the pipe on the left goes to the rocker cover, lower one goes to the metering head, and the one underneeth goes to the sump, front one is easy as it sits in front of where it goes, hope tht helps
lol i was gonna buy this then just buy the fitting kit for 25 quid which comes with instructions but it went to high for me im a skinflint lol i bought one of these off a mate last year brand new never been opened with fitting kit for 40 quid i wish i had just kept it now
Sorry mate lol
In the pic I posted it looks like the bolted type, but has two bottom hose points underneath.... so where would the other 'underneath' one go??

vent to atmosphere Dan, as in spreading greasy oily vapour all over my shiny chrome?? Not good lol
If it is to vent, cant another pipe be added so that it hangs lower and vapours are nowhere near my chrome?? Or could I just add a mini cone filter type thing to it, or wont that stop the vapours? (I think I know what Im on about with that daft question lol)

Sorry mate, im not knocking your advice. The only thing I dont understand is that you have explained what to do with 3 pipes (left, lower, underneath)... now Im seeing 4 pipe outlets (left, lower, and 2 underneaths). Wheres the fourth one go if the third one goes to the metering head?

Wait, i think i get it now... sorry
One outlet goes to the original breather outlet on the (facing front of engine) left of the rocker, the one slightly underneath that outlet goes to the right of the rocker. One of the 'underneath' outlets goes to the sump and the 'fourth' outlet goes to the metering head.
Im a dunce, sorry. Thanks
What difference would be seen if it is vented rather than connected to the metering unit? Anything?

So thats the only advantage of venting it... it stops oily air going into the metering unit?
When vented, is the stuff coming out really that oily, or is that answer purely dependant on engine quality/health?

Karlos.
It does depend on engine quality/health yes, but really you should not have enough oil coming out the vent (or back into metering head depending what you do) to be able to see it!! Thats the point of the seperator it goes back down into the sump and only slighlty oil air/vapour comes out the vent (or into metering head). Mine vents to atmosphere and there is NO oil whatsoever on or aroud the little filter that i have fitted to the Bailey sepereator.

What difference would be seen if it is vented rather than connected to the metering unit in terms of engine running?
would it be very noticeable??
would the engine run better without the small amount of oil flowing in to the metering head??
Is it recomendable keeping in mind expensive cost of Bailey Breather??
Tell us your experience after fitting it...........
Thanks
The cleaner the air the better!
Oil vapour in with the air will cause detonation earlier than if it wasnt there, so basicaly you can run more boost and make more power than if your air is oily.

More boost and power v's detonation.... hmmm, now what would I/you choose?? lol
Looks like Im bunging the air meter and venting using the filter... better to try both I suppose tho.
Thanks for all your help guys and hopefully this thread will survive to help others out in the future
