Default zvh turbo megasquirt question

Looking to start the 1.8 zvh turbo build very soon and am contemplating running megasquirt engine management system.

Does anyone have the same system and how do they find it? I take it it completely does away with the fuel system and combines ecu with fuel unit.

Do the wires of the fuel ecu plug straight into the megasquirt unit along with the ecu ones?

Which megasquirt system do i buy and where shall i get it from?

Which injectors shall i run on my s2 for 300bhp? Im thinking cossie blue tops but am not really sure they will handle the power.

If you can help me out and let me know what systems you are running then ill be most appreciative.

I understand I have to upload a basemap from my computer and then take it to the rollers to have the fueling properly sorted but have been reading up on the megasquirt system and it has a self tuning capability.. is it any good and will it do away with the need to have it professionally tuned?

Cheers

I seriously doubt you'd be seeing 300bhp using 803's on a CVH head. I'd want to be running something in the region of 400-450cc/min.

You start again and end up with a proper little engine management loom. Use an eec-iv loom as a base and remove the parts you don't need, then connect up power, earth, injector feeds, coil feeds, fuel pump relay, rev counter signal wire, etc etc etc to the little loom stub that comes with the MS ecu.

Why not just use the better head that comes with the bottom end though?

No offense mate but that is why im doing the research.. so you are telling me that you knew and understood about ms before you even thought about installing it?
I dont know if anyone will agree with me here but your comment is utter shit, people like you make forums like this and newbies like me get pissed off. Im looking into MS so why not just offer advice and help to the questions I ask instead of telling me I dont understand it so stay away.
You sir are an utter Tosser!

blueskies85- Rick is blunt, but ultimately correct. Installing an aftermarket ECU is not a plug'n'play solution. Autotune in MS is crap, don't think it's going to do the job for you. You need to know an awful lot about how engines work and how to mechanically set them up before you even touch on mapping one.

Pa_sjo, i completely agree but im learning and doing my research. I do know how engines work mechanically and learnt that through experience and asking questions. If Rick wants to shut me down for doing research and asking questions then I feel thats wrong.
I am in the beginning stages of learning about aftermarket ECU's and that is why I am asking questions, to gain more knowledge. Once I feel I understand the system then I will install it and not before!

blueskies - I'm an electronic engineer by profession, and also a long time RS turbo enthusiast. I know more about ECU's and in particular MS than most people. If you were near to me I would encourage you to go for MS as it is a very poweful ECU. I have tried it on a number of extreme engine setups (that doesn;t mean big power as such) and have had very good results with it. However, it isn't for the beginner. There are more suitable ECU's for that.
I will ask you, what is it that's attracting you to MS? I suspect the price? I don't think it's the features as by your own admission your not too well up on them. MS is hugely configurable, but in that respect introduces you to many variables.

If you want a good ECU that you can learn with and accept the risk that learning brings, then i'd go for a Pectel T2.
