Default Rear Anti Roll Bar D Bush Bolts

Came to take my rear anti roll bar off today and found the bolts that hold the D bush brackets, were fitted with the head of the bolts facing to the front of the car, making it almost impossible to remove them due to hitting the chassis below the rear seats.

Can anybody confirm if its a design fault or a previous owner has put them in wrong ?

Cheers

pretty sure this is how they are fitted as std, as far as i can remember when i fitted my full polybush kit to my old s2 i couldnt remove the rear antiroll bar due to this and couldnt work it out so left the std bushes on, there must be a way of removing them though

We removed them put they took some gentle pursuasion(sp) to stop this problem we are thinking about putting the bolts in the opposite way (head towards rear of car instead of front).

Carl ive removed the anti roll bar due to me wanting to painting the underside of the car and paint the suspension, tank, rear arms etc

There is 3 bolts and 4 hoses and a tank strap, dont pull the tank to hard or you will break a pipe.

It is the right way and I'll be doing the same as you on refitting, ie. heads facing opposite way, cant see any problem in doing that unless anyone knows better????

Makes no difference which way the bolts are facing. When removing mine I "modified"the area under the rear seat with a large hammer and a block of wood!!!Does'nt seem to have affected the car's forward motion!!LOLRegards,Micky

i seem to remember,i ball pein hamered mine (the underside)slightly to give a bit of purchase, so the long bolts would squeeze out!

As said, the direction is right. But when you open the nut, then you first pull the tube out the back. After the inner tube is away, it's easy to remove the bolts.

file down the corner of the bolt and it will come out
it was tight as fuck when i done my back roll bar
other option is to slightly tap floor where the bolts hits to make a groove
bit stupid design but i reckon they done it for a reason
