if your handy with a spanner why dont you give it a bash yourself? alot cheaper! - you'd only need to rebuild it to standard spec with the power your wanting

As said, if you can wire a plug you can rebuild a cossie yb, at this spec it is nothing technical to do engine wise.
You will of course need some new parts injectors for one, my greens(0280 150 803) were at 80% duty at 310bhp, though they do vary a bit.

There is not really any setting up to do, it has got to be one of the most simple engines of all time, the hardest thing is proabably the valve timing which a two year old could do.
It is such a basic old design, std common sense is all you need, certainly no harder than other engines, unless you are talking some very fancy stuff used in very high power applications.
It doesn't always follow that you can blame someone else if they build it either, you may blame them but will they be bothered financially or otherwise ?
I have rebuilt engines trickier than cossie yb in a sitting room before on the floor and table, not ideal but do able, though a shed/garage is ideal.

see thats the difference you know about engines, some dont .
I build houses some dont ,but i wouldnt recomend anyone build there own .

seen pleanty of cossies built to stage 3 oe above slap on a bigish turbo and away they go only to have been running lean or whatever and pop thats that.

Remember a post on here about a Harvy Gibs engine costing 10k that went tits up,built but set up by someone else,it went tits .
Now if i payed half of that i would want answers, hence who builds it maps it ect, then they have responsibility, tuned or not if thats the game there in you would have a come back for sure.

i agree you should always get the fuelling checked on wideband - as tabs said, the engine building part is easy!

STU at MSD charges about £150 for a set up i believe

I would say that is about right price wise.
MSD charge £500 for a full mapping session, whichbis what you need when you start mixing and matching bits just to be safe, otherwise a straight fuelling check is money well spent.
It is probably a good idea I don't build houses, as the three little piggy houses come to mind and mine would not be the one that stood up!!
