Whats the average MPG your getting?

Driving my mums today and it was averaging 17.7mpg

At one stage I noticed a pop on over run is this car over fueling 200miles a tank is very poor

If it is over fueling what can be done?

On a long brisk run, I have had as high as 36.4 mpg.

When caning the ass off it, I have only ever seen it fall to about 25 mpg.

(Stage 1 remapped)

All figures are averages that have been reset first.

My ST doesnt have instantaneous MPG as it was one of the first made (Ford press car LOL)

u tried the kam(keep alive memory) fuse
my mate used to get shit mpg on his and was told to reset this, something to do with it learning ur driing style blah blah, his mpg would be down in the high teens, now its never below 25
take the fuse out for 15-20 and put back in,resets the kam

It's pretty poor. My ST-2 usually gave a return of around 24mpg combined. My 330Ci on the other hand gives around 31mpg!

i had a mondeo with the same engine, went over to holland in it and never seen better than 21mpg!

and that was constant cruising at 80mph for about 50 miles.

worst was about 7mpg

shocking fuel economy on those!

also driven the smax with the same enigne but a bluefin, was just as bad

never driven the focus version tho!

They all do that 'pop' when you lift off at high-ish revs.

i get 30 mpg if driving carefully to from work (25 miles each way not in town traffic)

at my old job only 5 miles from home in town traffic i only got 18mpg. none of the STs have a an instant MPG readout, mine a '07 ( which is for sale by the way) and doesnt have instagt mpg, only the average, which you can reset at any point.

can get 350 miles to a tank if driven carefully, but where is the fun in that,

oh, the pops and bangs are normal, once hot and you acllerate under a lump of boost, let off, dup the clutch and then quickly blip the throttle to release a really loud ALS style BANG

remove for at least 15 mins......the car will then learn a new driving style hopefully and adjust parameters to suit

This memory erase method to get better fuel consumption is bullshit !!! - Sorry !

The car is CONTINUOUSLY learning and if anything will take longer to learn its new settings after a reset.

If it is drinking too much fuel, it has a fault or you are driving like a twat all the time

People forget it is a performance car and it will drink fuel if you cane its ass off.

Get a 1.1 fiesta diesel if you are that worried

reset the average mpg figure, then take it for a cruise at 70mph, should show 30+ mpg

correct, however the ST DOES learn your driving style, so if your are sitting in staffic for months on end, miel after mile, day afyet day and did a "scientific" test of the same car next to one that had just had its KSM cleared and re -learnt for spirited driving , the rest one would win against the other one - the MPG issue is total jibberish as above
