Was out 4 a drive with the missus last night, was greeted by a mondeo st sat on our bumper wanting to play, anyways i cant beleive how left behind he got, and i mean LEFT FOR DUST! on 2 seperate occasions when he did eventually catch up it was funny to see his mates laughing at him for getting left by a girl! lol, anyone else had any encounters with these? it was an 53 plate 5 door with the 18inch multispoke ford wheels as standard, beleive they are 3.0 v6? (220bhp?) cheers

 

Most likely a TDCI, mine can keep up with most stuff, but I tend to get left for dead by Mercedes Sprinter vans

 

any mods on the gti and which mk is it, cause there hardly lightning quick cars especially in standard trim

mondeo st 220 would do over a gti unless the gti has been modded. also be aware police use st220 as undercover cars and will play about to make you race them.

 

mk4 1.8t superchipped de cat panel filter, sorry forgot i was there , he was full on trying gave it away by him trying to keep up, pretty much got to top end on the golf, and he wasnt out of view, but still nowhere near us

 

the 220 does 0-60 in 6.8 and top end 151 in standard spec, so the golf must be nippy.

Edit/ If yours was 180bhp or more would have better power to weight than the mondeo, and no doubt chip easily enough to 200bhp.

Standard trim the GTi will do 8.5 to 60, with a chip and a few other bits you could knock some time off, with 3 up in the mondeo I reckon the GTi would beat a TDCi ST, but petrol probably not.
