seriously. i couldn't believe it when we saw them in the world touring car championship at brands hatch on sunday. saw these strange cars circulating that i didn't recognuse, no wonder as they were Ladas. not very competitive - the chevrolet lacetti (top gear's reasonably priced car for the star) seemed to be the one to beat ahead of the bmws and honda accord.

I got the shock too when watching it on some Dutch channel yesterday!! It was a replay from a circuit that I'm not sure of, but they were racing trucks and all sorts too.

L100's or something like that. There was only 1 driver in the top 10 though. Great to see.

The other shock was them racing Seat TDi's against BM's!!!!! The mechanic was saying that they have to limit the throttle out of the corners as the huge torque the TC's make, shreads the tyres!

Even if it was a road car and looked like that it would have a 1.6 in it, not a Swindon Race engine lol

Its great to see them out there with what should be a competetive car

 

But the same goes with the Suzuki Leana (spl!) or the Chevvy Lacetti! I've only seen 2 Suzuki's ever!!

 

Was only about 2sec a lap slower than the leaders, they not too bad a car at all, esp as they didnt have the best drivers.

we left shortly after the F1 demo, that was alright, but tame compared to festival of speed and race of champions
