head gaskets, front suspension tops rusting (and the usual other old ford rust hotspots underneath)

older ones are 4-speed, later have 5-speed and better seats and wheels, generally better spec but still pretty basic by todays standards.

all have power steering.

the 2.8 engine is a dog, unless its has been very well looked after or restored it will be a rust bucket

if the shell is good, check strut tops and have a good scan at the arches and under it, it mat be a good plan.

just chuck a 24v in it, i have never had as much fun with my clothes on in ages driving a 24v capri. I was giggling to my slef though out the drive

Yes rust is an issue of course also water pumps check for a fine mist, but not a real problem,if its the special model they are quite nice with the half leather recaro trim and them nice RS alloys.

the 2.8i v6 engines are only about 150bhp arent they?

i had one about 10 years ago, it was quick-ish but not as quick as i had expected from a big 2.8 engine.

but those were the days when i thought CC's meant big power. its like theres SO many people who still think 2.5 v6 mondeo's are super-dooper fast

i thought they were ~ 130 but at their age i doubt they would be pushing 100 anymore depending on the milage and previous owners!!!
fun cars to drive... performance is a bit lacking though!

They never did make the power ford claimed, I had a xr4i with same engine, but modded heads, warmer cam, magnex exhaust, k&n etc +90thou, after my 2.1 pinto AUTOMATIC sierra went to the scrapyard in the sky, what a major dissapointemnt the 2.8 lump was, my 2.1 pinto was way faster, even on a 40 dfi!!
