Need help with letter of resignation...
Anyone give me a rough idea of what to include? Do I put the date in my self? Or do we agree one? (4 weeks notice)
Sorry for the amatuer questions, but never had to hand my notice in before.
Thank you.

Well i've just left my place of work after 7 years
Really all you need to say is that you wish to resign from your position within the company.
Ask personell or your line manager to confirm your final day of employment (normally 1 month from day of serving notice unless you agree to leave early/later, etc)
Ask them to confirm about final payments of any wages, time in lieu, holiday, etc that may be due to you.
Also ask them to confirm that your P45 will be made available on your last day of employment or before, as some companies take pleasure in forwarding these on late if you chose to leave (as i have found before

YoungDan,
Been a while since I've done one (hoping I'm not going to need to in the near future either.
Basically I think you would need to include something along the lines of "...I therefore give you x weeks notice as per terms and conditions of employment and therefore to intend my final day of employment to x date..
Couple of reasonable examples here to help tailored to reasons for leaving:- http://www.i-resign.com/uk/letters/letters.asp?#No3
Useful to part on as good terms as possible as to ensure final pay is correct / P45 given (and not witheld!) and for future references
Otherwise just tell 'em to stick their job where the sun don't shine
(only kidding, as ian said part on good terms with nothing derogatory in the letter)
Good luck with what you are moving onto do.

Dear BOSS'S NAME
Please accept this as formal notice of my resignation from the position of ???????????? with effect from ??????????
I realise that my contract of employment requires me to work until ?????????????, however I'd be grateful to be released on 26/03/2008, and will assume that this is acceptable unless you inform me to the contrary.
While I believe that I am moving for good reasons, I am sorry to leave, and I thank you for your support during my time with the company, which I have found enjoyable and fulfilling.
Yours sincerely
