Default Now i dont get this at all!

My brother who passed his test 1mth ago decided he wants to buy the FRST off us, so we agreed a part ex with the Escort Gti we sold him last month

He is insured with ecar insurance, so i had to amend his policy online to get the price for him to see if he can afford it

Now a 5dr Escort GTi imo is a slightly less risky car all round compared to a Fiesta RST?

His insurance is £82 CHEAPER

hes been driving a month

how the foooooooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Engine size perhaps.
Or less Fiestas involved in claims.
Don't try to make sense of insurance!

I would deffo prosume the RS badged cars have a higher premium than the gti cars

is it not because the FRST is worth less in the eyes of the insurance co?

i asked the same question the other day
with my dad as the named driver and me as the policy holder, it was over £700
with him as the policy holder and me as the named driver it's just over £400
and i did a thing on the internet where the "with business use" quote came to £470 odd so i called to ask to remove the business and the quote went UP to over £600

madness, complete and utter madness

i've got a company set of wheels so i don't really use the car, but the best quote i got was with me paying NO EXCESS for an accident or claim other than fire or windscreen

the mind truely boggles

A while back when I was deciding between an M3 and Supra TT, I got quoted £500ish on the M3 (Group 19) and £300ish on the Supra (Group 20, more power, Jap, etc).
Many more M3's have been involved in claims than Supras.
So a run of mill car stands to reason will have had more claims than a rarer car.
They go on amount, not amount per 100 or similar which would make sense...

its because its an escort, just that simple fact. escorts no matter what model will always be more expensive to insure from what i've found.

maybe its just that all escort models are classed as a highier risk compared to the others.

my rs turbo is the same to insure as a corsa gsi and cheaper than a saxo vts.

likelihood is rs turbos are seen as a more enthusiast car, youve gotta like the car to keep it on the road, so your less likely to drive it into the nearest hedge. wheras how many chavs do you see racing up and down dual carriageways in saxos?
