Exhaust wrap
Was thinking the other day about wrapping the turbo and downpipe to try and keep some of the turbo's heat away from the radiator and generally reduce the under bonnet temps.
Is it a job worth doing and is it expensive?

Its worth wrapping the Downpipe and the exhaust, because it helps hot air flow, I wrapped my manifold right up to the turbo but was told, this was bad due to the
extreme tempretures created in the exhaust housing and it could in-turn melt the
exhaust wheel. So just the bit closest to the engine is wrapped and the rest is
exposed.
Exhaust wrap is about £15.00 a roll if i remember...

I think Bomber off here got a load very cheap, enough to do his whole exhaust and with some less for about £40! I'll try and find a link for you...
You shouldn't wrap the cast iron parts of the turbo or manifold cos they can crack due to the heat...

wasn't there a thread on here ages ago about this
I think the general advice was NOT to wrap your turbo/manifold if you have a modified engine but its ok an a standard engine.....or something like that ! not sure why though, I think its something to do with the heat being contained. I'm sure someone knows !
