not to bothered about it being the original or the re-release but it does have to be in kit for as cheap as possible. Local model shop doesn't sell anything from Tamiya

wont find much cheaper than that for brand new!

Ive bought loads from them without a single problem, and very fast delivery
They are mostly cheaper than uk sellers, even when you add 30 quid for delivery!

what are the lunch boxes like in standard guise ?
are they quick ?
can you get any hop ups for them ? ie a faster motor ?
ive seen the speed tuned motors on fleebay but AFAIK they are for the 1/10 scoobies / cossies etc and the lunch box is 1/12 so will the motor still fit ?

They use the same 540 type motor as pretty much all other Tamiyas, so really any motor should fit aslong as the ESC can handle it.
As for their handling, its not exactly brilliant, plus its not 4x4 so dont expect it to be climbing mount everest in your back yard!

Oh yeah, great fun!
It might keep up for abit, thats if it doesnt flip when you pull away
Corners like a sack of shit though.
Personally, Im going for the rereleased Hotshot

Ive still got mine somewhere. I bought some headlights for it too
Full ballrace set, different pinion, oil filled shocks. Was great in 1990 when I got it. Maybe not quite so cool nowadays though.

Had the original Hotshot too, infact that was my 1st RC car. I had a few Tamiya cars 1st time round and they've re-released a lot of them now (which brought back some memories)
I had.. Hotshot, Hornet, Lunchbox, Porsche 959, mudblaster & Thundershot over the years.
I found that Tamiya club forum a while back and it got me looking for another Tamiya car. I ended up buying an RX7 as they have good detail in the shell.
My favourite is the Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3 Taisan, awesome looking shell and wheels. Although the recent 30th anniversary Porsche is very nice (but already fookin expensive)

I have a RX7, with the lights yeah?
That Porsche is amazing, but I cant warrent the cost of one

RX7

Pumpkins

Manta Ray

Thats all the pics I have, got a Bullhead too if anyone remembers those? Needs restoring though. Have another Pumpkin, a lunchbox, 2 HPI Savages, a nitro Tamiya mini, a Grasshopper 2, Pug 306 Maxi. Too many really! I need to sell a few as space is becoming a issue

Yep, LED lights etc. I did (I think) a real decent job on the shell. I only wanted the thing to build and have as a 'shelf queen' (as they say) But ended up buying some drift wheels and smashing it into my 'real' car and destroying it

ok, going off the replies about the lunch box,
what about a drift spec imprezza ?
looks quite good - 4wd, special drift tyres, special geometry set up, better motor
anyone seen / tryed one of these drift ones out ?
