Default Help.??? can anyone tell me if this is a good deal.??

Can you tell me if this car is too much money as i am going to take alook at it today.. bearing in mind it has had 25k spent on it 2 years ago.. plus the dealership where s is being sold is willing to do a deal with a swap with my Escort Cosworth..

Dont want to be stung if it is too much money.??

It is a Genuine 1300 Super shell which had a £25K restoration 2 years ago.

Includes new quarters/doors/mexico wings/inner bays/bulk head etc. original floors and chassis runs Vauxhall 2.0 D.O.H.C Red Top Engine XE MBE throttle bodies SBD cams/exhaust manifold racing pistons and steel flywheel paddle clutch 220 BHP tran x 5 speed gearbox. Single piece prop with Salisbury LSD. Anti tramp bars penard rod. Vented disc all round, bias pedal box 7x13 super lites, 4x cibie super oscars, stainless exhaust.

The Dealership originaly wanted £18000k

But now it has been reduced down to £16k to do a deal straight swap with me for my Escort Cosworth..

Do you think its worth the deal.??

That looks wicked

As for your dilemma...I think I would say no as well. Unsure of the market and your car but would say it was worth more than 16k

Nice car, but that might be a bit expensive.

What's your esc (realistically) worth?

And did they really spend £25k?

£16k for a 1.3 with a vauxhall engine, wtf? That's mad IMO.

I know feck all about MK1 prices but originality must be key, ie a FORD engine!

Other than original cars, the only conversion that holds any interest for me is cosworth MK1

if it was an AVO Shell & a proper concourse car, yes then swap it but how much do you valve your escort at?

That is the sort of price mk1's are going for,I would say 15-16k for that rather than 18.

mk1/2 (2door) shells can fetch up too a few grand depending on the condtion/spec

there is a big demand for mk1/2's, specialy if it has an RS Badge

it has an good spec to it, would imangion its concourse aswel, lots of RS parts onit too, easy worth 9k+

without specs its difficult..

Prob more of a case of will be able to shift an escos at 14-16k easier than a Mk1 without too many of the right bits for the same price.

A friend of mine has just sold his for £16500 but that was fully restored and one of the best you will ever see,he paid £9500 for it 2 years ago A solid example requiring minor work go for about £6-8 k,mint ones are £10-12k and ones for restoration like my example are around £2-4k depending on state.
The prices for mk1's are rocketing though and the car above will be worth £25k in 4 or 5 years if kept like that. The beauty with mk1's is that even mex's and rs2000's dont really lose money if they have different engines, gearboxs or axles in them,as long as done properly, and that vauxhall engine in the car above sounds the dogs bollocks.

regards mark

Granted they do but for that kind of money i'd want concourse or cosworth conversion.
