Default Eczema - anyone any solutions?

As I'm sure many of you will know, Eczema can be an absolute twat to live with sore flakey skin and red itchy skin in the affected areas

I've never really had any major problems with it apart from the inside of joints such as elbows and behind the knees and even then it was only occasionally and it hasn't been a problem and hasn't even gone slightly red anywhere for the last 3 or 4 years

But recently, with no apparant reason it has flared up all over my shoulders, chest, legs, arm joints and armpits and even my bollock sack

I know that a change in washing powder, diet, weather condition, clothing materials and other such factors, including stress, can bring it on, but I'm not stressed at all in the sligtest and nothing has changed apart from the weather

I've tried emoliating creams such as E45 and the like, even tried using vaseline as that soothes and locks in moisture, but it doesn't seem to work at all. I'm reluctant to visit my GP as he is a useless cunt who will provide me with a sicknote and thats it

Anyone on here got any good ideas to help reduce or irradicate the visible effects. I know that it cannot be cured and is a hereditory disease that is with you for life but any releif from its effects would be marvelous - before I scratch myself to an early grave - as even the slightest touch can make is sore and itchy

I know its hard to do with british weather, but getting out in the sun helps mine loads! Used to get it really badly but if it kicks off i just spend a day out in the sun(just going out for the day or something, as i hate laying in the sun) and it helps clear it up loads

your best bet is to go to your gp for some stronger creams, if you dont want to do that go to the chemist and get some eumovate cream, its probably the best cream you can get without a prescription, it should clear it up in a couple of days, its about Ł5 a tube though. it is good

Hey gracie baby

i have had Eczema since i was a little sperm and it has never ever gone away lucky for me though i dont suffer from the type you have and dont get sores.
mine is like dry skin all over my whole body, its a pain in the arse having to apply cream to my whole body every time you have a shower/bath and even just puting my hands in water i then have to put cream on them ( which i have to do a lot being a decorater )
i have my prescription cream that i use and could only use that in the uk as it was the only one that ever worked ( i have used every cream on the market such as e45 and so on and none have worked at all ) but one of the best things you can do as someone put above is to get out into the sun, years ago they used to put you on a course of sunbeds at the hospitals and believe me if helps a hell of a lot ( they stopped it a long time ago though as skin cancer out way'ed eczema )
thats why even though i used to like going on the sunbeds i did it also because it clear my dry skin up.
since coming over here, unless i dont sit in the bath for long and have a shower instead i have found a normal dry skin cream which has sorbolene in it and can use that most of the time and comes in a massive bottle and dont smell like my other cream ( the sicky cream as my brother calls it,lol )

Default cream

Try HC45, simular to E45, or Hydrocortisone ointment, or a cream called Hand Balm made by Flexitol. Good Luck

I use to use that Hydrocortisone Cream as well. Used to get it on my ankles after playing football due to the ankle/shin pads I wore (made me sweat). Cleared up in no time.

I got given betnovate cream from the docs, soothes straight away and rubs in easily.

Also had some stuff to use in the shower, and a big pot of stuff to moisturise with i think theres a brand called Aveeno that does something similar as i cant think of the stuff i used at the moment

Any Hydrocautisone cream will help, but in my experience Betnovate is still the best thing for it

Eumovate

(spelling might be a bit off but about right)

Pronounced E-mo-vate

Its a steriod cream u can buy over the counters at Pharmacies. They'll ask u if you've used it before though....just say yes.

Its a really really strong steriod cream that works a treat.

If u use it too much though it can scar your skin as it thins it.

Top stuff though. Use sparingly and only ever now and again and it should do the trick

Try this:

Its brilliant, you can get it from any pharmacy. I used to get incredibly dry, flaky but sometime sore skin on my hands when i worked at a stables, and cetraben worked wonders ( its also good to use when youve had a tattoo! )

Or Sudocrem... ya know the stuff you put on babies bums for nappy rash... i swear to god that is a wonder cream!! Bloody brilliant stuff, bit thick but REALLY works!

Also, this bath lotion is supposed to be brilliant, i havent used it myself but know someone who has, apparently it doesnt smell very nice, but a 15 minute soak in the bath with this added helped her no end!

Hope it gets better soon fella!

Might be worth changing your washing powder again, make sure it's a non bio.

The goats milk suggestion isn't as mad as it sounds, if you don't like that, try an unsweetened soya milk, and stay off dairy for a week. See if it makes a difference? Intollerances will make it flare up, and dairy is one of the more common.

As said, sun helps alot. It's trial and error with the creams. I found the skin repair cream by oilatum very good.
Eucerin was awful, made my skin sting. So personally wouldn't advise that one!

Good luck.

my mums had it for ages and has even been to hospital for some light treatment which seemed to work but was very time consuming (3 times a week at an hour a time)

my brothers got it bad as well, but he's been ok ever since he's had some chinese herbal cream he uses on the worst parts every day

my sons got a touch of it as well and they've given him som ecream which i'll find out the name of when i get home, but that was great at clearing his up when it flared

a word of warning, there are some chinese herbal remidies that you drink which clear it up double quick time, but the side effects are that they taste like shit and the small matter of them fucking your kidneys up because there are so many other things in them stopped my brother from taking them

Bit of restbite today, no itchyness and the red has turned faded pink so returning to normal, thankfully, I'll give it another few days before visiting the doctors but I'm going to try some of the things suggested

its canisten hydrocortisone cream it contains 150mg (1% w/w) Clotrimazole and 150mg (1% w/w) of hydrocortisone.. i have tried so many creams / tablets over 12 years and some have soothed for a short time but this stuff started to clear it up on the first day of use .. it can be brought over the counter for around Ł5.40.. its only a small tube but wel worth it.. i had learned to live with it but since trying this only a month ago its been such a relief not to suffer from constant itching..

Bought some of this stuff this morning from Boots - 6 quid mind you, small price to pay for releif I guess

Going to rub some in after a shower and see how it goes - the pharmasist woman said it should clear up within a couple of days and that the releif is instant with it

Cheers for all your replies, even the painfull ones - its times like this that I realise that Passionford is full of helpfull people not just drainers who are on an arguement bender

I have been in the EXACT same situation mate, it's flared up all over my chest, inner thighs, shoulders, arms, underarms etc etc, thankfully not my joints or my nut sack!

I popped up to the Doctors for some advise last week as i've also been very run down and had a shit cold for about 6 weeks!

The doc gave me a prescription for some Betnovate Cream, this i've had to put on twice a day and it's clearing it up nicely to be honest!

I think you can buy it over the counter aswell....

Hope you get better mate, I know what a nightmare it can be!
