Default RST ABS

My mrs escort has just failed the MOT, as there is no N/S ABS belt....
Whats the easiest way (if there is one!? ) to fit a belt?? I assume you need to get the driveshaft out?

you have to take the drive shaft off to fit the belt or get rid of the whole abs system

Unfortunatly, the tester has clocked the belt is missing, i tried to 'bodge' it, but he said he wont pass unless the belt is on...
Might try to put the belt over the hub and slide it down the driveshaft, (if it will...?) dont really want the risk of pissing gearbox oil everywhere!!

I don’t think the belt will go over the complete hub. I would leave the shaft in the gearbox and remove it from the hub.

If you are going to remove the abs you will need to bypass the modulators. I did mine when I had the engine out so just run two new pipes from the master cylinder down to the two t-piece’s on the inner wings.

You will also need to blank off the return hoses at the fluid reservoir or get a non ABS reservoir.

sorry to jump in but when blanking off the two returns at the reservoir can you cut the original pipe and link them or are they different pressures?

thanks

You can link them together, theres no pressure in the return pipes once disconnected.
