couple of questions ??

roughly how long to change?

any special tools needed?

anything to look for whilst I'm under the car?

I'm planning to have a go this afternoon if the weather holds off and i've my hanyes manual at the ready !!! pmsl

no more than a couple of hours .just need screwdriver,pliers and spanner/socket set to get the bolts off.a jack and a piece of wood will also come in handy to lower the old one and lift your new one in place

well the old one is off

after 4 hrs cir clips that are 20 years old are a barsterd !!!!

but the new one isn't

I just took the tank off my mk4.

Took about 10 minutes

Have a proper look at the brake pipes which are routed over the top of the tank whislt it's out.
Always an mot favourite and a bugger to sort once the tank is fitted: basically it's a tank out jobber.

done it on mine, piece of pi$$, reversed it up on ramps, tank strap off no prob, bolts out no prob, hoses off no prob...lots of fuel in tank, wow..spillage...filled lots of bottles...old sender off, onto new tank (flat screwdriver and hammer job)..got it back on no bother either, but then it wasnt rusted to fook so prob made it easier!
