Default std zetec rods

hi,
thinking of doing a conversion and cant find out what the standard zetec rods will take (psi). The search mentions about the pistons but not rods. Im hoping to go down the route of using c20let calibra pistons. can anybody help me with information.

cheers geoff

standard rods will take 300 with arp rod bolts but not worth taking the risk when you can buy steel rods for around £160 from the states

what psi can the c20let pistons take and what power figures would be reached with a sensible but standard build (ish) head work ect.

i ran 24 spi with a t34 and 19 psi with a gt 25/40r they are forged pistons so with the right mapping you could run 30 psi if you had stronger rods, 310 bhp with those pistons.

thanks

i use to run the same 1.9cvh with a decent cylinder head 300bhp the engine is quite strong.. weakest part is the cylinder liners i split mine using loads of nitrous.

no never run a 16v zetec just the zetec bottom end the zetec will be an all round better engine if you spend your money on the right parts.

the 1.9 cvh rods are only good for 260 ish bhp and steel rods for them are £700+

with the zetec block you can get forged pistons and steel rods for £500

hi lee are you talking about the american tall block engine. when i rang P.E they would not tell me what rods they were due to the engine being copied. its a 1.6 boared out with a 1.8 crank. i done big end bearings about 6weeks ago and sent the big ends off to be matched and they came back as the same size as bearing used on a tryumph. any more help would be appreciated

i ran 25psi on a t34 0.63 exhaust the engine is strong just make sure you get the car mapped too much heat will cause the liners to split.
