do you think it will be alright to put the old tappets and rockers out of my old engine in to my new used engine as it is tapping alot. im hoping it's not the cam coz i dont want to take the head off.

1. You really shouldn't put new tappets on an old cam, or old tappets from one cam with another.

2. You don't have to take the head off to change the cam. It's really not that hard to do.

3. You absolutely sure it's the tappets? Check that it's not the exhaust manifold gasket blowing, as that can make a similar noise!!

 

i didn't know you could change the cam with the head still on i didn't think it would be enough room. i would just pull the head of but last time i took the head off i snapped 3 or 4 head bolts so i feel a bit dodgy about doing it with this engine. its not the exhaust manifold there is a new gasket on it and it was like it in the rs i took it out of.
