make sure you take the rear beam from the granada too, aswell as the front calipers, as the granada shares brake calipers with the 4x4 cossie, aswell as the rear ARB diff is 7 1/2" 3.64 ratio as per 2wd cossie, but with smaller output flanges.

Don't forget to fit a spigot bearing in the crank, the auto does not come with one.
You will not believe how much better your new engine is and it uses less petrol

Got a little bit more done today although it has been raining all day. Today I removed the dreaded auto box from the engine along with the air-con, and removed the engine half of the loom. Starting to look a mess now and also have a couple of questions...

1) How do i remove this funny looking thing from my flywheel? (See pic below)

2) How do i attach my engine loom to my Xr4i? I`ve followed the main engine loom through the bulkhead to the ECU and cut the other wires from the ECU which don`t lead to the engine (if you can understand what i mean)

Some more piccys...

Dashboard being removed...

Filling rapidly...

Dashboard out...

Auto box removed!!

Depending im not working Monday afternoon, then i`m going to remove the 4i dashboard and engine loom.

simple way find the ecu connetor and you will find 98% will feed to all the engine sensores edis and injectors the rest is power, fuel pump.

I have just done the same thing last weekend and fitted it to my sierra this weekend!

The torque converter (big donut thingy) comes of by lossening the nuts at the back. you have to do them a little bit at a time then move on to the next one and so on till it comes off.

What gear box are you using? and what clutch/pressure plate?

Cool. For the moment, i`m gonna use a type 9 gearbox from my 4i for the moment (i know its not the strongest of boxes), and i was going to fit the 2.8i clutch if it fitted.

Also, as mentioned above, i will need to fit a spigot bearing as mine don`t have one...

Oh dear. Well i managed to get the loom out of the cossie but managed to mess it up and cut some wires i shouldn`t of done .

All is not lost tho, the loom is being sent to 'Mark 24v wiring' to be sorted out ready to go in the 4i (Cheers Mark) , meanwhile, i`ll be going to my local ford dealer for a spigot bearing and a new drivebelt. Once i have them the engine will be bolted in by the weekend and then i can add the loom on when it comes back.

This leaves me with the exhaust, i plan to use the top half of the cossie downpipe and the bottom half of the 4i downpipe. Never custom made an exhaust personally, any one got any tips?

More pics soon...

The XR4x4 down pipes almost fit. But you need to weld in the lambda sockets.

Just love the 24V in my XR

Yeah, might do yet, dunno. Going to have a look at the exhaust side of things in the morning.

Quick question: Could i use special exhaust flexi pipe to join my exhaust as a temporary solution?

On the downpipe to mate the cossie downpipe to the 4i exhaust.

Its a 3dr cossie bumper colour coded to match the XR4i body kit.
You have to modify the tow eye on the car to fit it
