i have one, and it's pretty good. i wrote a program in visual basic to display and record the output in excel

 

bargain got 5 egt inconel sensors upto 1100deg C and stainless steel compression glands to weld/thread onto exhaust for £96 delivered. http://www.temperatur-shop.de/

very reasonable and with relay alarm outputs

 

for the money it's a little more than a wideband setup so i'm thinkinghaving just this instead,
could you virtually rely on this individual egt monitor to give you a warning of running lean?
i.e when running lean its gona run hotter which would be seen by the egt sensor and then take action?

 

What comes to AFR i would only trust wideband...

 

It will change the EGT if you run lean, but it will change for other reasons too, so its not really a definitive guide.
