How hard is it to change a turbo?
Well in my case it's very hard
I brought a new turbo a few weeks ago and started to fit it the day I picked it up.
Got most of the pipes off and a few of the manifold bolts then realised that the new turbo wont fit with the rouse manifold and exhaust
So I put it all back together and went on a search for a standard manifold and normal exhaust.
Got both items last weekend (Thanks Spadge and Spiky) so I booked some time in my mates workshop for this morning to fit them.
Got the car in the air and the exhaust was off after about 10 mins
All the pipes were soon to follow
Then SNAP. there goes one of the manifold bolts ' bugger' then another SNAP
luckily I had a few spare ones so i wasn't too concerned.
started to fit the new turbo and very quickly realised that I wasn't gonna manage it. NONE of the oil or water pipes fit. Feeling rather pissed off I had to spend the next hour or so refitting a turbo that is only good as a door stop until I can get the replacement pipes.
So now I am back to where I was this morning with a car that dumps over a litre of oil into the exhaust every week whilst making a dodgy police siren type noise.
I should hopefully have the new pipes early next week and fingers crossed have it all fitted next saturday

I'm only fitting a T3. Slighty bigger thant the standard hairdryer sized T25.
and it already has the actuator fitted to it so that should be ok.
I need all the pipes. Oil feed and return plus the water feed and return but have Just poped down to PTS and ordered a set. Don't know what teh price was. Forgot to ask

I just read the comment about the actuator bracket for a t34.
I fitted a t34 the other day to my 4x4 and used my -34 from my t3.I had to adjust the length of the actuator but it did fit.The car aint running rite now and the f*kn exhaust is rattling at the middle!! Is there anything I could have ballsed up on with the actuator?? will it have f*kd my boost up cos Ive adjusted the length of it?Gonna have to refit that damn exhaust.

The oil seals are nackered so i use over a litre of oil in 100 miles
The shaft moves in and out a good few mm
and it moves up and down so the blades catch
urm
the shaft seems to get stuck so I hit zero boost and the car sounds like it has a police siren fitted
get a few funny looks when it does that
I did think about getting the turbo recon'd but I would like to go more power in the near future so I thought I might aswell start now

Only want just over 300bhp so it should be fine for that
I would keep your old turbo though or sale it to me
that is true. The little lag is very nice. Hitting full boost while the bigger turbo cars are still trying to spool up is
, but the t25 is limited to the boost you can run and power seems to tail off fairly quickly
I will probably get the t25 recon'd at some point and keep it so if I decide in the future to sell the rouse I can put it back to standard
