Default paypal and ebay???

right i recently sold some bits on ebay(quite a bit) and during that time i had an email regarding paypal fees as i dont really like accepted paypal but put it as payment option, a guy said i am not allowed to charge the 4% that paypal charges and he reckoned thay have stopped charging altogether.

now i will always charge people if they choose to use paypal as why should i swallow up the charges , i already pay ebay for the things i sell, turning selling into a complete rip off!!

so what do people do on here , do you charge on dont you??

actually the bloke is partly right, you are now not allowed to charge for paypal, it is against ebay rules, however paypal still charge you!!!

i just swallow the costs as its only actually about 3% and i am normally up on the postage anyway!!!!

HTH

as pugo says, ebay rules are that you can't add paypal charges (although plenty still do..), but no reason not to 'adjust' postage accordingly then everyone's happy

i even get emails having a pop about postage charges as well , people dont realise that its postage and PACKING!!!

yes i realise that ebay tried to stop the charging a while ago , but 99% of people will pay the charges , if you add it onto the postage then people will tend not to buy because the cost is to high to post

if i swallowed the charges in the last couple of weeks i would be well out of pocket, i think this is a very bad move on ebay's part

You do not have to accept payments by paypal, just specify cash /pos / bankers draft / cheques and state " goods dispatched after funds cleared ".

Sellers do not like paypal as it costs them money its that simple ( less profit ), for people like me who use ebay to sell unwanted items using paypal is easier.

if you have a personal paypal account (significantly you can't then accept payment to it by credit/debit card) you don't pay anything...
