does anyone know if there solid or hollow? i dont really want to cut part off (a section of the black bit) to find out

 

SOLID PU RIM material usually, hard condensed foam, polyeurothane.

They are just injection moulded parts, and the release oil they used on them can screw up the sunsequent paint jobs if they used a little too much, had my one sprayed twice now still goes flat, a lot is due to flex in centre section though.
