Default Why do you need a boost gauge?

I know this is a really stupid question but i've never had a turbo car. Why do you need a boost gauge as I thought the actuator limits the boost anyway. I know this is probably a really stupid question

The saph i've bought has no after market gauges.

I intend to fit a boost, oil pressure and oil temp gauge anyway.

Same reason you have a temperature gauge!

So you can see when it's working ok and know when it's not

You don't need it, as said above its just to make sure its not boosting funny.

I see. What could make the boost get too high?

Got a lot to learn about this new turbo lark

To much boost causes.

Faulty actuator,
Sticky wastegate,
Boost leak before the actuator.
Boost controller faulty.
Set up wrong.

Cheers chaps. Picking it up tomorrow evening and can't wait

Not gonna drive hard though until I've changed all the oils, the cam belt and had it checked by a tuner.
