Default GT2871R cossie , what chip/setup ?

with a GT2871R on my sierra 4wd...
what chip must i use ? (custom made ??? or one for a T34 , T4 ??)
is it (road) drivable on 350hp (lag etc.)
my goal is 400/450hp , but 1st i need a stronger gearbox , long studded block etc.
some hints and experiences maybe ?

i have green injectors , 3bar map sensor , -31 and a -34 actuator and a custom made 3" exhaust and probably an RS500 ic

p.s. : do i need a 044 pump then ? (ore something better maybe ?)

To get the most out of your new turbo have it live mapped!!! and i would go for a 044 pump and uprated wiring

As for greens u will struggle to get anywhere near 400 bhp go for light blues or greys or poss 1000cc injectors depending on if u have any head work and cams (A must if u want more than 410 ish bhp)

This can be a costly conversion due to the box being the weak link after around 350 bhp

Driveability will depend on how its mapped

Is the GT2871R along the same lines of a GT28RS?

I looked into a GT28RS when my old turbo blew but we wern't sure that it would make much more than 370bhp. Would love to know what one would really make.

Hello! I use the slightly bigger 3071R. I have a Gr.A-ported head, BD14 and BD10 cams, standard plenum and exhaust manifold, 620cc siemens injectors, cosworth pistons with standard comp, and it is live mapped. I run 2 bar boost and it gives about 430 hp. 1 bar boost at 2800 rpm. I use the standard L8 box. As seen in PF November issue. First swede in PF.

HI!

Do you have .63 or .86 exhaust housing?
Do you have full boost below 4000rpm?

regards
Mathias

I use the 0,86 housing and i have full boost at around3500 rpm. But i,ve had some problems with surge, so we have ported the exhaust housing for this year, and that will make it slightly slower on response, around 3-400 rpm. I have been running with this turbo since 2000, so it,s been going for a while, and there was no problem with it when we checked tis winter. You need an adaptor plate to fit the standard manifold.

Sounds impressive!
Do you have some videos?

There is no adaptorplate required anymore. You get nearly all
of the garrett gt turbos with T3 flanges.
