right this has been a massive shock for me, we found my grandad passed away in his shed last night
which i am devistated by. the doctors think it was a massive heart attack- but we have to await the post mortem to find out what happened.
question is, i have a week off this week on ANNUAL LEAVE, do you know if i could have this changed to compassionate leave and have my annual leave given back to me as its hardly time now to enjoy annual leave.
many thanks people

plus i have a mum who will be on her own all day? work has to understand this.
soory to hear your loss mate,
but most companies wont give you the time off if a grand parent passed away
happened to me with my nan which i was very close too
they said only if my parents or sister passed away they would give me time off
the only way i could do it was book my holiday
so i did that, then took a week on the sick as i still wasnt ready to return to work
companies are wankers when it comes to things like this

I think it all depends on your employer. Mine would send me home and tell me to come bac when I'm ready but I'm sure that most would expect you to work. You might get a day if you're lucky. It all depends on who you work for.

it's normally only imidiate family, unles you tell them that your grandad lived with you
speak to your boss and see what they suggest, although i wouldn't hold your breath, i was only allowed one day when my nan passed away, but i took 3
sorry for your loss
