How do you check the timing with verniers??
Hi Guys
I have just changed the cam seal as per my other post but before I start the car I want to check its still timed right. I looked in the for manuel and I know where the bottom pully should be and the dizzy pully, only problem is I have verniers with no markings like the standard cams have. How do I know these are right?
Thanks

Damn, mine are kent cams and the word 'cams' on them is where the arrows should be. So on yours I don't know!!
I believe the keyways should face outwards though iirc (opposite where the arrows would be) But don't take my word for it!!
Somebody will confirm for you (as well as say "consult your tuner"
)

The woodruff key on the cam should be at 6 o'clock, or as very close to it as possible being as you have a vernier!
Just remember to spin it over 2 full revolutions by hand before u attempt to start it
EDIT
This is for a CVH my mistake

Exhaust woodruff 9pm
Inlet woodruff 3pm.
That will at least allow it to run, although if you turned it over with it wrong you have either:
A) Done about Ł1K worth of damage.
B) Used your 9th life...
Best of luck.

Thanks guys all sorted although I did have trouble finding the groove on the rotor arm, it starts up and runs though. Can you get the rotor arm timing far out? Looking at the ford manuel there should be mark I think mine has worn away.
Took the car out for a spin before to check everything was ok. Oil leak seems to be sorted now gave it abit of boost etc and it didn't blow anything out the seal.
Only thing I noticed was the car felt a little flat off boost, Im still not convinced that I have the dizzy wheels timed up correct, as there are no clear markings of where it should be. In the service manual it shows the rotor arm should be at about 2oclock position so I set it to that but cant see any markings to get it spot on? Is there anything on the wheel and block its self.
Also I lined the bottom pulled up with the crank position sensor pickup point that's next to the grove in the bottom pulley is this correct or should it be lined up with the grove, its just my mate reckons it should be on the grove but the service manual picture looks likes it from the pickup.
Thanks
