Default Greetings, and info about my westfield project

Hi,
New to the Passion ford web site so hello to everyone....

Just thought I'd drop in a quick few lines explaining what the hell a Westfield owner is doing here..........

So, I've been running my 1600cvh powered Westie for the last year or so...and decided to do some upgrades over winter.....You know how it goes, some simple upgrades have now turned out to be a full blown new engine project.......

So, after pondering over chucking in a zetec, I decided I liked the cvh as it had never let me down, went surprisingly well for na 1600, and was relatively light....So, I decided to make it my mission to stick with CVH.....This is where it all started getting expensive, so to cut a long story short, I'm picking up my 2.0 Ferriday block next week...........I was going to stick on the standard head, but once again, I've now decided to go down the porting, and new camshaft route.....Car will remain on twin weber 40's for now....So, I'm hoping to have a rather nice power gain and torque curve over the 1600, fingers crossed I will get what I'm after...But, I'm sure there will be many questions so watch this space.....

Cheers.

Paul.

Alas couldn't afford the kit so bought car last winter at a knockdown price.....Have pretty much rebuilt it since owning it.....Things like shocks, wheels and tyres, roll bar, have been changed to make it better on the track.....but now need more power.....I may also have to fit a slippy diff depending on final output of new cvh...but will wait and see before I do this......

Reading around this web site, there are some truly incredible machines out there........Makes me want to stick a turbo in!...Turbos and westfields are the 'easiest' of cars to drive, but bloody good fun.......

Good to also see some local motors

Looks nice

Good to hear of some one sticking to the good old CVH. My 1600cc CVH was built by Ferriday and it goes really well.

Dont bother with porting the CVH

For the same money you could port a Zetec head and get 50bhp more power

Whats the point?

AustenW - Agree on the face of it a zetec is a good conversion....But, when you actually do the research, add up the cost for different engine mounts, engine management, clutch kit, custom exhaust systems, different water pumps, alternators, starter moters, baffled and shortened sumps, inlet manifolds....The list goes on.....Quite simply, couldn't afford it. it anexpensive conversion!.

Besides, as mention...I like CVH engines , and I think this may be the only 2ltr in a westie...so, somthing a little differnt....

Of course, cossie power would be fantastic....I know of a few westie owners running 300bhp YB engines.....utterly bonkers, but what a laugh

If it was up to me I would have had a cossie engine in there a long time ago.........Wife always keeps close tabs on how much I spend on the car though......In the process of negotiating a new cam shaft kit for an early Xmas gift

Default Ferriday 2.0ltr arrives...

A few pics of the new block.....Head has now gone off for porting, and I'm just trying to figure out what cam to throw in.....Toss up between cvh33 or piper 285C, at the mo, but open to suggestions......

Block spec is tall block bored and stroked to 1988cc, pistons are modified Zetec, with ford stress releived con rods.....Not going to be turbo though :-(

Anyway, Pics:

Default Finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...........

Update.................

Car now finished.....produced 155bhp at 6000rpm (not much compared to you turbo guys, but feels nice in a car that weighs 600kgs - Torque feels great)...so probably a little more to come once engine has run in and I can rev a little higher...Engine install went very well with no real issues......ended up putting in the Piper285C cam kit, and the head was ported by Steve Pacey who did a cracking job at a VERY reasonable price.....

Anyway, here it is:
