Default My Mate's Mk2 RS2000 Which has been sitting for 18 Years

Hey All

Here is my mate's RS2000 Custom and it has been sitting since 1988

Here is its last tax disc

So I thought it was time we started to restore her.
Managed to pull her out and jet wash her

Under the bonnet

Surprisingly the floor pan is ok but the o/s/r quarter is another story. I took off the vinyl roof and found this

And this is the rear arch

Considering how long its been standing the rest of the car isnt that bad!
Anyway I'm only at the stripping stage so only a couple of pic's

So far i have started taking the front and rear end apart

Next job is to get the engine and gear box out. But because im currently doing my XR2i and S2 RS Turbo it may take some time.

Tell me if you think im mad or not

The XR is also posted

To be honest i dont know why the car came off the road in 88

I think he bought the car to do up as he got it cheap and it had a high mileage but never got round to it.

Great project M8

at least if you ever get fed up you can just have to look at some of the VERY VERY nice MK1 & MK2 Escorts on this site to keep you spurred on

Keep at it M8 and keep the pics coming

Another resto thread to watch

great project mate but i cant help wondering why anyone would have bought a black car with a black vinyl

the thing most seem to be forgetting is back in 88 those car where worth fuck all really so fixing it up would have almost been a waste of money.

btw i have seen alot worse out there so dont give up on her and i look forward to seeing her done and sideways on the road
