Basically i'm now at the point where i have to decide if i'm going to sink serious money into my RS 2000 and i'd like to get peoples views on what i plan to do.
Quick spec of the car -
Engine-
Magnex system inc de-cat
Piper X panel filter
Air pulse removed from exhaust manifold
Exhaust manifold heat wrapped
New Ford tanks
New engine mounts
Suspension-
New Ford bottom arms
New bushes
New droplinks
Spax RSX coilovers
Front Upper strut brace
Rear upper strut brace
Brakes-
AP Racing CP5200 4 pots with 330mm rotors, DS 2500 pads
Wheels-
17"x7 1/2" MOs
Transmission-
CTS gearbox with Quiaffe ATB, shotpeened gears and polished casing
New Ford clutch
I have to say the car handles and stops amazingly at the moment, its just crying out for another few ponies under the bonnet. This is where the serious money comes in. I don't want to turbo it, so i'd be getting a high comp engine built, running throttle bodies. Thing is i want a good bit over 200bhp which means i can't really get the engine done in stages to spread the cost. With the rough spec i have in mind i be hoping for at least 230bhp, i'm guessing at around £6K to see the engine totally finished.
Reason i'm asking for opinions on what i'm doing is i'd like to know if its a stupid idea to build the engine for the car? Or just leave it as it is now?

Erm....
I wouldn't. But I've become very cynical over the last few days
If I was you I'd take a look at what your car is worth, then add 6k to that figure, and go have a look on auto trader and see whats in that price bracket....
You'll get a shock at what you can get that will humble a 230 FWD ford escort.
But, at the end of the day it's your car mate. If you want to spend the cash on it you probably will.

See i'm thinking its different - nobody else has really got an I4 up to that power, still keeping it at 1998cc (apart from motorsport teams)
I could already have bought a nice Saph cossie with what i've spent on the 2000.... but then if i had a saph i'd spend money on it, then i could have had a nice something else instead!!! It never ends lol.

Now while I'm not saying it's crap, I'm pretty sure it would go very very well, it's just you could have that as your starting point, as opposed to your finishing point..
