Default Heater Matrix's.... F.A.O. Chip 3door

Not on the Escort unfortunatly But on my Cavalier 2.0 16v Red Top.

I'm not getting any heat inside the cabin And its getting chilly in the mornings now

I've flushed:

The Rad = Running clear
The Matrix = Running clear
All pipe work = Running clear
Replaced the themostate (complete with new housing)

And its still not getting hot, although there is a very slight raise in the temperature now

The cable is also fixed onto the heater slider on the dash.

If the matrix is fubar, would it not release any heat out although let water run thru it? I'm still thinking along the lines of an air lock but the dont seem to be a bleed valve on the rad anywhere

Also when i put the red top into the car, could it be that the water pipes are connected wrong?

Any help/advice would be of a great help

Thats the thing, no their not. Both are a simular temperature and only very mildly warm. But the pipe out the side of the block gets red hot and that meets up with the both via a solid pipe.

If pipes are not red hot then thats your problem. Checked for blocks in metal pipe? no blead on pipe itself?

No sure on cavs about the pipework, either theres a bleed your missing or a block but if pipes aint getting hot then the matrix cant get hot, got any pics?

Never had a new thing broke when you get it? test it before you put it in? dont think its that anyway as water should bypass it to matrix anyway

chances are you got the same prob my clio has, got my dad 2 flush it with a jetwash and no joy, i did it myself a couple days ago thru both holes loads of times and its now slightly warmer than it is!!! chances are theres still loads of gunk in the matrix so water is passing thru but its not radiating the heat properly!! if their easy to chance on a cav then its worth just changing it!! was gonna on the clio but its a dash out job which is a cnut to do

Someone on here suggested stucking 1/2 cup of washing powder to clean it all out leaving it to run bout 1.2 hr but have yet to try it

I'd suggest you have an air lock or a blocked pipe.

bypass the two pipes together in the bay, see if they get hot then, if they do, you know your matrix is blocked, thats the first thing to try mate.
