Default how does tuners mapping software connect to the car?

i wanted to know how the mappers connect their laptop/pc to the ecu's and what else they connect to the car when mapping/live mapping

also what exaclty do they see on the laptops/pc's?

that is what i call complicated, no wonder stu is the best.. plenty of information thats understandable

dont think i could map though

so the emulator goes into the marreli ecu lets say, then it goes in to the laptop?

yes mate you are correct


if you are using an aftermarket ecu,,, say a autonic,,, you do not need the emulator,, and the ecu plugs straight into a laptop
this is the reason why some tuners push aftermarket ecus, they simple havent got the equipment to map the stnardard range of ecus

its not going to be functional, mainly concentrating on the interfcace design on 'my own' product

Programmed in delphi with a C++ comms module plug in.

Nearly finished now so all the hard work is done. Wish I had known about

Works VERY well with ALL types of com ports no matter if its on USB, PCMCIA etc...

Delphi (Visual Pascal) is piss easy compared to C++.

Think of it like VB (visual basic) but lots faster and more compact but
10 times stricter on what you can do with variables.
Plus it doesnt need ANY libraries to be installed to make it run.

I.E. It can produce a single executable file with everthing in it. !
(compared to VB)

Its a perfect language for database applications .... like ecu maps
