Evenin, few pics of my latest project!
Putting the 1800 zetec in the bonus made a crackin wee car so decided next time to do a 2.0 16v zetec! Along came this little delight from my contacts:

she's a '97 Mondeo 2.0 GLX with 88k roughly on clock, perfect engine but out of mot, just what i was after! Drove it home to make sure engine was sound which it was, bargain at £65!!
Plan was to find another good base model shell as they seem to be more looked after, however a clean, tidy and very suprisingly solid XR3i came my way, in the best colour with a knackered engine - perfect

If you can see past the cheesy bits, its a very good shell! dunno about the script on the number plates though lol:

Out comes original engine (non runner due to conrod smashing through side of block)

And de-chavved a bit and a good wash:

the zetec bolted up to the original xr g/box, nearly ready to go in, still to swap sump and water pump and do a timing belt:

Hoping to get engine in at weekend - car will look fairly standard but have all the right bits under the bonnet and underneath - should be fun

Not again!!
That xr3i looks familar - where was it advertised, i think i may have seen it?
Whats the plans for this one then? Track car or daily runner until the S1 gets done?
Will this conversion be as easy as the bonus one?

lol - when i plan comes together in my head, i can rarely say no, especially when it comes together on a budget!
car was never advertised bud, i've known it lying for years and just kept pesterin the boy - you maybe saw it on Strathycruise when i was sellin the 17s off it!
This will be my new daily runner/track car while the S1 is gettin done - it should be easier than the bonus in most respects but harder in some others

£65 mate for Mondeo which was a veritable bargain...
£220 for the XR3i which i thought was ok, especially when i sold the fookin horrible wheels for £140.....
In theory wiring should be ok cos XR3i has EFi already, in fact i'm gonna buy the conversion plate from Oddkidd to run the cvh inlet so it should just be plug and play

Anyway, been a busy day today,
Gave engine bay a good clean and de-grease:

Then in she goes:

Coming home via the trusty orion - pulling another car with a slipping clutch and fcuked head gasket is always fun

Then parked up at the house to start doin all the bits and bobs with the bonus as reference lol:

Got a few bits to source now such as alternator set up from an XR2i 16v, 4 branch and system and wait for the poly bushes and other bits to arrive
Oh and cheers to the crew for their contribution, pete, hairdo, fraggle, chiz, my old man - yous know who you are
