Hi everyone, Ive been a keen reader of the restoration threads for many months, so I thought I would build myself something to keep me amused while I take the next year or so to restore and uprate my Escort Cosworth. Here's a pic of me Esc Cos:

I found a van on EBAY for the project and placed a bid and won it. The vans being picked up within the next 2 weeks, so will get proper pics up when she arrives. Obviously she will need some work done to make the body nice and tidy. The van's currently a 1.3 (IIRC) with a headgasket failure. Here's the pics from EBAY:





















I brought an RS Turbo off a mate of mine to use as the doner car. The RST has a nasty knocking on the front end from the shocks bottoming out on every bump, problems with the central locking and the battery light almost always stays on. This will be sorted once in the van tho Here's a few pics of how the RS looked:









Funnily enough a few years back I had a red RST which I sold my intercooler, wheels, ECU, bonnet raisers and a few other bits to the bloke that owned this black RS. So, Ive got them back now Here's a pic of my original RST:

I started stripping the black RS Turbo today and will hope to have it completly stripped by the end of the week as I want the shell gone (Rusted to fook) before the van arrives:







I will update as and when I get time as the next few weeks is gonna be busy

Here's how the RS has ended up for today!

Everything is out the engine bay, except loom, engine, box and brakes. The aim for tomorrow is to have engine, box and front end completly stripped and make a start on the interior. Then Thursday I will do everything underneath and the body work inc bodykit, doors, etc...

Sidewayz, Ive always wanted a van and Ive always wanted to build something from scratch. Just decided the other day Im gonna do a turbo van and within a week I have a van on way and the doner car The black one has been hit on drivers side door/wing, passenger side wing and front bumper. The shell has rust on roof, battery tray, boot, etc so your right the shell is gone

I will have more updated pics later. Almost everything out the engine bay now (Taking a bit of time as Im literally removing everything) and I want most interior out today so I can remove wiring and everything underneath tomorrow.

 

Bit Of An Update:

Literally all the engine bay/front end is now stripped. Ive removed the wiring loom so once the interior is done I can literally pull it all out. Only thing left to remove from the bay is the brake servo and link bar, but that un-does from the inside, so will finish when the dash is out:







Here's how far Ive got on the interior so far:





As you can see its getting there slowly. Ive noticed alot of wires through the car for amps, alarms, etc are a complete mess. So will tidy up the loom once removed ad Im waiting on the van Same goes for all engine bits, etc.

And here's all the bits pilled up in me garage:



Ive got 2hours before I gotta go meet the MRS, so will hopefully have dash and seats out

 

PLANS FOR THE VAN:

1) Escort RS Turbo Engine running 200bhp
2) Escort RS Turbo running gear (I.e. fuel tank, gearbox, brakes, etc)
3) Van painted black (Inside, outside and underneath) with a dark blue flip (If I can find this paint)
4) 4x 15inch sub in the back
5) Azev Type A 16inch wheels (Will use the standard RS alloys for now)

The reason Im doing this van is because I wanna teach myself how to weld, prep and paint a car. Im also getting my own powder coating equipment, so need to practice first when they arrive. Then if this van turns out how I plan then I will paint the Esc Cos myself and powder coat everything on the Esc Cos too

Will finish the inside off tomorrow. It seems this car has 2 alarms wired into it atm with only 1 working Will more than likely rip them both out and fit a Cat 1 anyway The ERST shell is rotton to fook. Snapped a seat bolt in the chassis

TODAYS UPDATE:

Removed a few bits more today. Almost all the interior is done, except one seat with rounded screws, carpet and the rear beam/shocks.

Won't have time over next few days to do anymore, so will have to wait till Monday/Tuesday to finish everything off

Well instrested in this i got a van id love to do the same thing with one day mabe (not got cash or any where to do it at the moment ) keep the pics comeing. the only thing about have a van is people alway asking you to move there sh*t for them so you have to fill it with sounds

Its bad in places Alex, but amazingly not as bad as I thought. I loved Bully's/Nas's old van and that's always insired me to have one. Mine will have the RS bodykit, etc. Post some pics up of it if ya find them

Plans for the Cos is strip down and respray, tidy up underneath and hopefully uprate diffs and engine a little bit too Not gonna say too much incase the engine spec, etc don't pull off...

Im gonna finish the RST in a mo, so more pics later. Got more work coming in tomorrow (Stripping Calibra Turbo) so need to clear me garage up tonight

 

Completed more of the strippeing today. Will have it finished over the next few days when I get time, then have a clear up of all the bits and sort out what I do/dont need for the van... The underneath is done, so is under the bonnet. Just bodykit and a few bits on the inside to do... Here's pics of what she looks like now:

Cheers everyone, the vans being collected at some point next week. This shell is being scrapped over the next few days so once its gone I can sort everything I need out and sell the rest. Will have bodykit off today and I finished interior off last night!

Luke, got any pics of that colour mate? I have a neighbour who apparently works for a big pait suppliers, so his bringing home a colour chart in the next few days for me to view

 

ah ive just thought of a blue you could use over the black base, ford state blue pearl, a cant belive id forgoten about that cause i was doing some spraying with that the other day for my bro

Finally finished the black RS off today! Got bodykit off, which was a nightmare as all the bolts had rusted in, so had to drill em out. But here's how she looks before going to the scrap yard in the sky:









Ive decided were gonna sell the engine out of this RST as we have another RST arriving in a month or 2 with a misfiring engine due to cam shaft wear. So gonna sell this as a bare engine and rebuild that one when it arrives. It helps clear the garage a bit and helps to to focus on the bodywork and anciliries before starting on the engine build.

Can't wait for the van and my powder coating/spray equipment to arrive so I can get started on building

Steve it'll be good to see another rs van going round hopefully end up mint like Bullys/Naz's & Bruce's van . If you need any 1 to take the shell away a mate of mine will come and take away for free .

Ive been given a House Of Kolor DVD showing how to paint/prep a car, so this will be of great value when I get round to painting It shows the basics of what to do to have a nice smooth surface, etc
