Default Series One - GETTING CARRIED AWAY ~ HELP!

Hi guys , ive been looking at the projects page here for ages and ive decided to get stuck in!

Heres the spec on the Series One :

polybushed
Cossie Disks all round
Coilovers on the front
Stage 2 Hybrid Turbo
Alloy Rad
Piper Fast Road Cam
5 inch exhaust 3 bore
Big Valve head
185 bhp 168 ft pnds
No sunroof :P

Overall the conditon of the car is very good, she's got a genuine 63 k on the clock and the interior is very nice.

Its had two wings done at some point tho and they're starting to bubble which is pissing me off, also the rear valance is slightly cracked.

So........ after looking at what you guys can do in your garages i decided to go for a front and strip down and rebuild + new wings etc,

Finally got her into the garage this week at home ( after 6 months of arguing with the old man and a massive clearout ) so work can begin!!!

In the meantime im thrashing around in the Xr2

""

Had a S2 at one point as well ...

""

heres some pics hope u like , thanks
""

""

Heres what i got done

Rad out
Intercooler
Turbo + manifold ( ..bastard thing )
Hoses
Lights
Front bumper

Bonus ! genuine tow eye cover heehee plesent suprise!

... any commets? think ill be needing some help...

If the bumper is off the car you could try heating them up or drop them in hot water to soften ,hope this helps

hi , thanks for the posts! yes i will paint up under the arches. one thing the guy at the body shop said was sumtimes people convert the mk4 inner arches i.e the plastic splash guards to fit the mk3's as the shit always gets stuck up in the wings and rots them out . which is starting to happen on mine,. ...

got the interior out aswell..need to find sumwhere to store it.

will try attack the other side to get the a.r.b out for gud .

Going to take bits into work to blast them of then of to a mates for a dose of powder coating me thinks.

Had a go at the wiring loom, been labeling it up as im taking it of. WHAT HAVE I LET MYSELF IN FOR! lol

Don't worry fella, just keep all bits and bolts togeter, take pictures and notes of what you take off, keep trim covered up.

it will all go back together, only it will be minty and you know what has gone back on is good.

label all parts up, 2 months or more down the line it will make assembly alot easier.

hi guys! thanks for the interest, in short progress is being made. I go tthe engine and box out and stripped the bottom end down. its all ok ( 60 k ) so ill give it a clean up and a reassemble.

Took my head into work , strippped it, cleaned it THEN found a crack between the c.chamber and the water jacket so took the spare in and started stripping that to build up one good one out of the two.

Bodywork wise im going to leave it mainly to the b.shop. shes getting two new wings and a blow over,.

Ive been hoarding more bits like a minty spoiler, gen bits and bobs that can go in in the grand reassembly. ill try get some pics up soon.

The g.box is getting blasted and painted aswell.

Might skim the pistons while their out, lower C.R ?

Looks a good 'un Mate

Going through same process with my S2, and the doubts do come & go.

BUT...................... the fact that it gets a bit scary from time to time, makes the sense of achievement you get when you get something spot on amazing, even if it just something small, it's like one more battle won

As previously mentioned, take heaps of pics, label everything up as you g, also little tip, next time your in the bank ask for some money bags, there free and great for storing fixings/nuts/bolts etc, just stick bits in the bags in groups with a bit of paper describing 'em fold the top over, jobs a good 'un
