This is the donor car for the Westfield - why bother breaking it to turn into a Westfield? Read on........

Alas, old Fords never die they just rust away..........

Decided not to waste money repairing a 1987 Sierra, so decided to recycle the main components into a Westfield.

Engine stripped down and rebuilt with new rings, ARP rod bolts, ARP head stud kit, new bid end bearings and -1mm off the head + low profile head gasket for increased compression. Other spec of the engine as it was in the Sierra was 2.1 with hepolite piston, ported and flowed head, three angle valves, Piper OHC134 high torque cam shaft, ecu chipped by Motorsport Devlopments, k+n induction kit and Janspeed 4-2-1 mainfold and exhaust system. Rolling roaded at 143bhp - should be 150bhp without power steering or viscous fan. 180bhp with throttle bodies I have lined up.

Wow - how long has it been since I posted here?

Well, to summarise it's finished!

Passed it's SVA test at it's 2nd attempt (initially failed on speedo under reading and LH handbrake inefficient) at the end of October and I got it registered and taxed a couple of weeks later. Did the 200 mile round trip to Carlisle no bother at all - solid as a rock.

Since then I've done around 300 miles in it and the engine has tuned up really nicely - starts on the button, idles up to temp (even in this -5c weather!) and I think I have the fuel map pretty much spot on - gonna be visiting a friends rolling rood in the next couple of weeks to try to improve the current conservative spark map.

The build log is @ http://web.bethere.co.uk/amigafan2003 if you want to check on anything else.

Regards

New wheels Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's. 24kg lighter than the Kahn's!

Drives much better with them on - stops faster, accelerates quicker, turns in better - it's even "comfier"

Stands me a shade over 7k. Bearing in mind I already had the donor car (which was uprated, in excellent condition for the running gear) so I haven't included that in the build cost.
