Default REALLY wierd sound, no garage can pinpoint the problem

Got a wierd squeeking sound coming from drivers side wheel.

Its more noisy when under acceleration and also when steering to the left.

Started off only doing it when it was on full lock, but has gradually worked its way to making the sound when driving nearly straight.

Have tried WD40 on all the joints I can see, lower arm has been replaced as failed the mot on that. When going very slow IE pulling on my drive, all I can explain the noise as is say flicking a pack of playing cards in your hand, but a metally squeeking "click" sound.

Had a garage say it might be CV joint, another said the centre hub nut, but thats tight, and others say its possibly a wheel bearing.

Its doing my nut in

Any ideas people?

Thanks

Think about it ...... how many parts are there that actually move?

the bearing - the cv joint - the other thing i can think of is the dust shield on the hub assembly is bent & is rubbing - you also say clicking sound - do u have abs? could be something is rubbing against the teeth on the shaft - i'd personnelly get it all apart & check.

It's not alot of work.

Hope this helps..........

Could you put it on a MOT brake tester or one of those on car wheel balancers to try and help pinpoint the noise?

sound like a dry c.v. joint.

best to do whats been said. strip it all down, clean everything, re grease bits, cheak for damage, put it back,

if everything is clean undamaged and it still makes the noise you be deffant that its not that.

Quick way of checking the cv joint is jack up that corner - put wheel on full lock - spin by hand to see if u hear anything like rubbing or a cracking noise - also whilst jacked up centre wheels put yr hands at 9 & 3 o'clock & try rocking the wheel towards you - if the bearing is knackered you will know it as there will be play.
