How the fuck do you get it off!!!!

I want to change the gasket behind the plate but i'm fucked if i can see how to get it off without fords SPECIAL TOOL!

 

if it's in the car you can remove the rad and use a normal puller

if it's out of the car you can forget about the rad and just use a puller

 

What if you havent got a puller small enough! mines too big........

Its for the small pulley though, it has no holes to mount that kit................

The pulley i have is the big 3 legged puller.

Ahh then i can use the puller!! cushdy that'll mean i don't need to take the sump off!

Thats where most of the shite has come from.......

Looks like the original seal, as i had to use a wire brush on the oil pump pully fitting!!!

So its gotta come off!

 

think ive got a cometic front cover gasket at home..... and bits n bobs...

Its not easy to tell from the pix but how much room is there underneath the pulley???

enough to get a head of a ground down HT bolt???
perhaps an M6 which could sit between the teeth in the recess keeping it close to the pulley body.

Just wondering if you could grind the heads to make them fit into the available space, then with them screwed into some steel with a central bolt, it may be enough to prise it off.....

but only if there's enough room.

 

You can get a mid sized screwdriver around the edge of the pulley.........

So anything bigger your stuffed!

 

dont worry mate, next greasy spoon is on me... ill have a look and get it over to you

 

Worst case scenario:

Order a new cover from a breaker.
Split teh old cover with a chisel.

Use puller to remove pulley.

Job done. 5mins. Simple.

Just dont smack the pulley itself by mistake

why don't you just unbolt the cover and they use that to prise the puley off?

and is it a pulley or is it the timing belt sprocket?

Went for Stu's choice of the good old chisel option........ and smashed the livin bejesus out of it!



Then i could get the 3 legged puller on the pulley!

how are you "supposed" to get it off without the "ford special megamoney for this job only tool"?

 

I think there would be only 2 options.........

you borrow one from Ford (if you know somebody who works there and they have one....)

or

you make one..............
