oh ok, i was reading fastford and one of the guys bought a cossie and said he reaplced a load of sensors etc, and had a few in the pics and said he replaced them as it was best to due to age or whatever, etc so thougt it was a common thing, so in my quest to get my car 100% before doing any performance mods i thought i had better check

cheers Mike

if the sensors are working there would be no point in changing them ,you would gain nothing......

I have also been told to do this as a precaution, especially if buying one and no documents to say when they were last done.

'Twas I. In my defence the insulation on the crank sensor and phase sensor leads was starting to perish, and as I do 500 miles a week I also changed the ignition amp, TPS and MAP sensors for piece of mind.

but the news sensors have just as much chance of failing as an old one that is in perfect working order.

if they have problems ie broken-exposed wires, then obviously you would change them.

Have you seen how much carbon/oil gunk gets baked on a cossie act due to the position under the breather return.

I would at least check them all eg resitance vs temp against the specs.
