Default VHPD powered rear engined, rear wheel drive mini build.

Hi all, thought i'd post up some pics of my current project - as title says.

Ok its not a ford, but some of the builds on here are awesome - so would be interesting to hear some of your opinions of my car

Ive got a build diary running on the 16vmini forum so rather than repost all the pics i'll just post al link. Then update this page as work is done. All comments welcome.

http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5727

cheers

Andy

cheers for the comments guys - after about 3 years of 'rear engined' build that ball is finally starting to roll. Or at least it will do, until i go back to uni in october.

got some decent pics of the paintwork now - still a final coat to go on

Quick update for y'all

Been working on the subframe today - cut off all the brackets and mounts that I dont need, for whatever reason. Also spent the last couple of days painting up the engine, gearbox and all the engine mounts etc. all looks quite smart, pretty happy with it. Will hopefully get the subframe finished and painted tomorow evening, then crack on with getting it fitted on Sunday

Awesome!! Very impressive work - keep us all updates here.

You must know evolotion (dennis) then on the board - lives locally to me, even with a pretty standard K-series his mini absolutely flies, so im wondering what yours will be like

Yeah not half, hes told me about it constantly fishtailing due to his driving Turbo and new ECU system is very trick indeed.

Got the second coat of painton, but its not too hot today, so i doubt it will be dry enough to get it fitted today never mind. Rebuilt the gearbox, just waiting on some clutch/flywheel bolts from Land Rover then i can reintroduce mr gearbox to mr engine and get it fitted

Got the engine back in to the garage this evening, ready to be bolted in. Nothings gonna happen tomorow - still waiting on bolts for the clutch Nice seeing it all lined up ready for fitting though

engine is in at long last

Its not a one man job, so it took alot of running round and under the car to get it in with a trolley jack, axle stands, and lots of planks of wood and bricks.

Fits like a glove

Was a bit worried having got the engine in, that the bar i welded in at the last minute might make it a pig to fit the exhaust, but it slipped in ok ...with loads of room to spare

A mate joked the other night that it would be an engine out job to change the spark plugs...i laughed nervously....but im pleased to say it isn't Just have to undo one of the stabilisers and rock the engine forward
