Default The Viva restoration.

I know it's not a ford, but it will have ford running gear - so thought I would stick it up anyway. Not done much so far due to amassing bits first then blitz-fit them later philosophy that I have, anyhoo:

...made a bit of progress today, too hot to do any huge bits of work though. Hope to get the gearbox unbolted from the engine tomorrow and get the prop out and interior out so I can get everything sorted for the engine transplant next weekend.

First whipped the bonnet off - it doesn't really lift high enough to work on the engine.

A helper monkey helping

Drained the cooland and whipped the rad out as well as all the cowling around it.

Then whipped the exhaust manifold off, now just the actual engine lift out to do - but I need to pick up the crane to do that (can't lift them from so low down )

Also will probably get the suspension off for some new shocks and bushes tomorrow.

Cool project, any pics of the exterior/whole car.

My dad used to own one of these back in the early eighties - worst car he has ever had, he ended up leaving it in Calais after it broke down about 10times in france one year

Yup here are some of the exterior, and I know what he means. Which is why there is no way I can drive it 'as-is'. Got some slotmags to replace those hideous steelies. Just need to give them a good refurb when I get time *hunts around for his rotary tools*

Not that keen to spend the money on a YB - S2000 engine's are half the money at the moment

Thanks street - top link that!

Well got the engine mocked up but forgot about the sump issue. So currently waiting to get hold of funds to get hold of the escort rwd zetec engine mounts, a new subframe to experiment with fitment with and obviously the RWD application sump. In the meantime hunting around for some R1/gsxr tb's to fit to the zetec I now have on my patio.

Oh the giggles.

Good luck with the viva. Don't see so many about so looks good.
I offers a ford engine unto a Carlton before and its gonna be a slog but thats what makes it worth while.

Is it staying green?
