Quick questions guys - now im guessing that putting the spare on a car with 18s is a BIG no no..... - likley to destroy diffs....

So what have you all done for spares??
I would like to get another mo, but as they don't make them any more that could be somewhat difficult...
Any other idea's? - or just get 2 huge cans of tyre foam stuff?

 

just get another 18" alloy of any style (but in escos fitment of course!!)

buy one off e-bay... there are always single wheels or part sets from crash damaged cars

put it in the boot where the spare goes , then jus get a vinyl cover made up so the wheel aint visible anyway!!

that should serve the purpose , jus remember not to get rid of the original tho as when ya come to sell the vehicle (if you ever sell the vehicle) the more gen parts ya have the better , obviously!!

 

225/40-18 has a diameter of 637,20 mm

125/80-16 has a diameter of 606,40mm

The difference is about 5% which is alot for my liking.

If you compare it to the original size is 225/45-16 and that is a diameter of 608,90mm which is MUCH closer to the space saver.

or , mr rolls...... the other alternative is to give me ya wheels , as they are defo my fave wheels and are now unavailable!! i think you should do this!!!

Looks like i'll be getting a spare then in any old wheel.... Shame, as i would like them all to match, but no biggy

If you put the space saver on the car if you have a punture and you have 18's on will it damage the diff then? Even if you drive for a short time?

 

can cause what is known as "wind up" in the centre diff (transfer box) as the wheels are turning at different rartes due to the smaller diameter!! torsional forces are increased and everythin has an argument!!

 

i have a rear strut brace and cannot fit a 18'' in the boot.

 

now that i never thought about!!

Probably wheel spray (like the one on new Mini's) and brakedown cover are a way to go then car's going to be lighter also

 

Thats what I'm doing, I've got rear strut brace as well.

I have a full size spare to match but with a uni-directional tyre as you don't know which side you may have to use it on.
