what should i pay for a p8 iwanting to run antilag coil pack water injection air air and pectal boost cantrol???and how much is my l8 worth as imay be getting rid of it for a p8 also is the p8 better and faster program iv been told will all that lot and the ecu £1100 is this a rip off or just what they fetch???any info pls barry

 

If you have a P8, then speak to Ian Howells at Racetek, he can get this upgraded to 8-injector / ALS etc for £550.

Alternatively, we are about to launch and upgrade package for L8, which will make it fully live mappable as well as allow ALS and dizzyless to be used.

Its swings and roundabouts, as with the Pectel hardware / software required for the P8, you will be limited to who can map it.

With our hardware / software, ANYONE who is proficient at mapping could do it, and any future upgrades can be accomodated.

I would imagine that initially the L8 package will be more expensive, but then it will be cheaper and easier to map...

 

Mike, what is the difference between the fully live mappable L8 before upgrade and the fully live mappable L8 after upgrade apart from the ALS?

 

At the moment only those with the Pectel dongle etc can live map this, with our software ANYONE with a lap top will be able to do it. Basically it will convert L8 into a DIY mappable system .

 

Do you mean that only people with the Pectel dongle can map L8 with a Pectel upgrade?

 

As I said, our system enables ANYONE with a lap top to map their car - it converts the L8 into a fully DIY mappable system (basically like S8 / Omex or any other aftermarket ECU that people normally have to switch to because nothing was previously available).

 

Do you plane to do the same thing for the P8 later??

the software with the RP Lab conversion is by the far the most user friendly that i have seen.

the benefit of using a modified L8 over something like Motec is that it is plug and play and has OEM reliability

But the Motec (like lots of it's competitor) has an adaptur to plug strait on the genuine loom
the good point with aftermarket is that they most have datalogging facilities, use wide band lambda sensors, and have help to built the maps (as well as base maps)...
they can run lots of injectors and coils..
I've also heard about a Pectel T4 but nothing really seems to move on there website.. Magnetti Marrelli also has very interseting stuff...

I want to change my gearbox before this step anyway it's worthless to have a big bhp engine without the possiblity of using it...

It's some else (reliable ). This is already fixed and comes as part of the conversion.

does the l8 upgrade involve new hardware (ie a new board fitted) to enable this or is it just a new chip with this new software,...?

It displays everything you could imagine on your lap top whilst linked up. I'm sure Nick will post up some pictures .

whislt you are connected by laptop/pc. this datastream could also supply a pectel style comms monitor of course. a feasibility study has been done already and production basically just depends on demand

 

Also, once a sufficient number have been put out to market a SECS type monitor will be launched as well for these ECUs .
