Default Boost Pressure Small Turbo

All,

1995 Escort Cosworth Small Turbo:

On gauge, boost pressure needle travels to 1 oclock max (way before the hatched lines on the gauge). Performance feels slightly flat.

I fitted a variable boost controller to try and rectify temporarily - took it so boost needle reached the hatched lines - but there is a splutter, around where the needle used to stop before (1 oclock ish). Is that the overboost cutoff?

Any advice on correct boost pressures etc?

mine is standard and if i remeber correctly goes to the 1 oclock postion but mine feels very quick, i also own a small turbo model

i hope you havent just wacked on the boost controller and just upped the boost this is not the way to do it, infact its pikey and will lead to failure of one of the components

OK so boost pressure on dial seems OK then.

Variable controller only put on temporarily for testing purposes....off now.

Is going off to be fettled at some point....so will hopefully come back with a new lease of life

also mine spikes then holds the 1 oclock postition, i havent driven it for a while but i'll get it out later and have a go and tell you. i do no it should spike to 1.25 i think then hold 14-15psi, dont quote me on this but ive searched this alot and this is what alot of people are seeing on start cars.

Mine raises to 1 oclock (ish), and just stays there.

It feels a bit flat.......
