Housing benefit fraud advice
A bird im seeing at the moment is a single mum and hence elegable to her house from council etc
If i were to be in a serious relationship with her and move in with her, her benefit would obviously stop as i earn a reasonable wage and hence would be expected to support her.
However, whats the story with the middle ground of those two.
If i stay there a couple of nights a week whats the score?
Ie at what point are you classed as "living together" rather than just visiting reguarly?
Is there an acceptable average number of nights per week or something at which point it changes?

Depends on the tenancy agreement she has. My *ahem* misses' agreement says she is allowed 1 single lodger to stay providing she receives no income from them, rent etc.
Just dont tell them is the best bet, ive got a place elsewhere as my cover story.

I would never want to actually move in properly as apart from anything else she hasnt got enough parking for all the cars if i brought them over from my place

I just wondered what the rules were and thought someone might know, wasnt really looking for ways round them, if we ended up serious together and wanted to move in properly we would move into my house not hers, as mine is far nicer TBH. (ie mines is detached, more bedrooms, more car space, garage etc and most importantly in a nice part of town not on a council estate!)

Surely the housing association/council will be able to tell you? Could be different depending on the area.

The problem with asking the council, is that no doubt it will then flag her as a target to be watched, would sooner just know the score without involving them TBH.
Plus, like i said, at this stage its only "out of interest" really.

I had the same situ with my gf claiming for being a single mum.. Moved into her house now.. well it's a big house with her parents and grand parents there..
Was just going to be classed as a lodges, but her Ex knows I am there so they would have said something I'm sure

3 nights a week m8 you can stay with no problems
my wife is a housing benefit officer
But if someone reported her they would investigate to check..
She visited a single mum a few mins ago and some bloke was there lounging around in his slippers apparenty he was just doing some DIY
He was too busy watching the 42" plasma in the lounge to do DIY.
Thats her gonna be investigated for possible fraud

Im in the same situ.
my gf is a single mum of 2 and just moved into a house from the council.
Im there most weekends, she was told a maximum of 3 nites a week for anyone else to stay. So we try to keep to that. I dont pay any rent but I do pay towards my usage of food, electricity etc..
I dont keep anything of mine there (i have to pack a bag of clothes every weekend)
If I do move in (which is on the cards) then she will expect to lose her benefit and we will be paying full rent on the house.
